ARTIST STATEMENT

My paintings come out of painting, the bliss of hard work with hands on research and learning-as-you go experimentation, and my connection to the history of art. I am investigating spatial metaphors, technical processes and in-coming information at the same time remaining dedicated to first person execution. I think my paintings are axiomatic. I’m reluctant to reduce the subject to what the source material or references are because, that is something i want to be as wide open as possible.
